About Simon, Doodleblog and the Souvenir Shop

Graphic designer, illustrator and doodle compulsive, Simon Palmer started his career designing and making puppets for theatre. He has worked in the Graphic Design and Marketing sector for the last 10 years and his experience includes: multimedia development, character design for film, branding and identity design, editorial design and medical illustration.

Simon says: "The drawings at Doodleblog (and the thousands of drawings that don't quite make it) are the foundation of nearly all my design and illustration projects. It's a library of "intuitive art" that feeds both my more formal graphic design practice as well as more developed character design and illustration for children.

"These are preparatory drawings for projects not yet thought of and in this way the artwork is not just intuitive but also speculative. Perhaps I keep these doodles in the way a compulsive gambler might archive his betting slips; there is the promise, once there is enough data, and given a thourough enough review, a new and robust system will be revealed. The big payout is just a couple of tickets away."
